Lawrence Batley Theatre Stage a Fundraising Performance for Kirkwood Hospice

Lawrence Batley Theatre’s special Christmas pantomime performance of ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’ raises £2,090 in fundraising for Kirkwood Hospice.

For two years running, Huddersfield’s Lawrence Batley Theatre have supported Kirkwood Hospice by donating 50% of one night’s proceeds of their special and well-attended Christmas pantomime shows.

In 2016, the LBT’s Christmas performance of Cinderella raised £2,124 in fundraising for the Dalton-based Hospice.

This year, on Saturday 9th December 2017, the opening night and a special fundraising performance of Jack & The Beanstalk was held, bringing the total fundraising for Kirkwood to an impressive £4,214.

The performance was a huge success for Lawrence Batley Theatre and Kirkwood Hospice alike, with over 16,400 guests in attendance over the Christmas period.

Victoria Firth, Director at Lawrence Batley Theatre, was keen to support a local charity as part of the theatre’s festive celebrations and kindly chose Kirkwood.

She said: “I know that Kirkwood Hospice is an organisation that many people in Kirklees hold dear.

"It is a great honour for us to be able to work together with organisations such as the LBT to make a difference to the lives of our patients and their families." Nicola Barber

Community Fundraiser at Kirkwood Hospice, Nicola Barber, is extremely grateful for the support received from Lawrence Batley Theatre over the past two years and hopes to work together again in the future.

At a recent cheque presentation, she said: “Kirkwood Hospice really does rely on the generosity of the local community to keep its doors open so we would like to say a huge thank you to Lawrence Batley Theatre for choosing us.

“It is a great honour for us to be able to work together with organisations such as the LBT to make a difference to the lives of our patients and their families.”
