Your Questions, Answered

How does our furniture collection service work? Fallback

We offer a free charity furniture collection service within the local area. To book a collection, simply complete our online form and book a date that suits you. On the day, you can track your driver online so you know exactly when they will be with you. If you have a query about our service, you can also email us at: retail@thekirkwood.org.uk or call us on 01484 557 917

Is it a free service? Fallback

Yes, our collection service is absolutely free!

What items do we take and not take? Fallback

We accept a wide range of furniture items, such as:

  • Sofas, suites and armchairs
  • Tables, chairs, desks and cabinets (home office only)
  • Beds and bedroom furniture

We can also collect a range of electrical items including:

  • TVs, speakers and games consoles
  • Lamps
  • Musical instruments and gym equipment

We can only collect furniture and other items that are in a saleable condition. As a general rule, items which are damaged cannot be sold.

We are only able to sell upholstered items if they have a fire label attached. A fire label certifies that the label meets UK fire safety standards. You can check whether your items have a fire safety label yourself. A fire label will be permanently attached to part of the item, usually sewn or stapled to it.

We rely on your donations to raise vital funds to care for patients and families in our care across Kirklees. Your generosity helps to keep our shops filled with high quality products, and helps to make sure we continue to be here for those in need, when and where they need us.

To book a collection, simply complete our online form on this page and choose a date that suits you.

Can I request a specific collection date? Fallback

When making your booking, you can choose a collection date to suit you. We cannot provide specific timeslots, so we ask that you pick a day when you have availability from 7am to 6pm. If you provide a mobile number when booking, will send you a text message with your estimated collection time the evening before your collection date – meaning you won’t need to wait at home all day.

Can I Gift Aid my donations? Fallback

When you book in your furniture collection, you'll be asked whether we can claim Gift Aid on your furniture donation. Gift Aid is a UK government scheme which allows charities to claim back tax on money and items donated by UK taxpayers. For every £1 you donate with Gift Aid, The Kirkwood can claim another 25p. It's an easy way to make your donation go further, with very little effort from you.
