Want to learn new skills, have fun and meet new people? Come and join The Kirkwood's Online Retail team at Sands Mill in Mirfield and help us raise hundreds of thousands of pounds to care for local people affected by life limiting illnesses in your local community.

Over the past few years, our Online Retail team have seen rapid growth and are already raising hundreds of thousands of pounds to help The Kirkwood Support Life for patients and families here in Kirklees. With your help, we can do even more in the coming years. Here’s how…

The Kirkwood rely on a team of amazing helpers who work with our teams to raise funds, care for patients and families and to bring amazing experiences to life at our fundraising events. By giving a little of your time each week, you will ensure we can make the very most of our donations. And by choosing to help our Online Retail team, you'll play a major part in helping to raise an extra £200,000 to support those in our care, every single year!

No matter how much time you have to spare, you could make a massive difference. If you have a few hours to spare each week and think you'd like to help, we’d love to hear from you!

You’ll have the opportunity to learn new skills and put your existing talents or interests to use in a fun and fast-paced environment.

Even better, however you choose to help, you’ll be doing something amazing for local people affected by life limiting illnesses here in Kirklees. You’ll be helping to improve their quality of life and supporting them make the very most of the time they have left – for as long as they can. And you’ll be supporting their families and loved ones too - helping them to find ways to manage their grief and to live on.

What kind of skills do I need?

As an Online Retail volunteer you don’t need any specific experience to apply for a role with us – we’re simply looking for enthusiastic people who are passionate about making a positive difference. If you have any of the following attributes, they’ll come in really handy:

  • Happy to work as part of a team
  • Eagerness to learn new skills
  • Basic IT skill and confidence using a computer
  • Good organisational skills and attention to detail

There’s no need to worry if you don’t. We’ll offer training and support to help you build your confidence, learn new skills and develop ones you might not have known you had!

What kind of things will I be doing?

Our Online Retail team is constantly growing and evolving, meaning we’ve got loads of new opportunities to get involved in. It’s an exciting time to join our team and every day is different, but here are a few examples of what you might be doing:

  • Turning detective to research donated items and assess their value
  • Preparing items to help make the most of our donations
  • Crafting compelling sales copy and creating accurate product descriptions for our website
  • Taking high quality photographs to attract online customers and really sell our donations
  • Adding the finishing touches by perfectly packing and dispatching online orders

Do you have a specialist interest or hobby?

Have you got a keen eye for rare or unusual antiques? Can you spot a Monet from a mile away? Do you have an interest in sports memorabilia and collectables?

If you have any interests, hobbies or skills you’d like to spend more time on or you think could help us to further develop our Online Retail team, this could be a brilliant role for you. Please get in touch – we’d really love to talk to you.
