Charity Golf Day

Dust off your clubs and take part in The Kirkwood Charity Golf Day this summer in memory of Bridie Foster and Kevin (Bomber) Foster.

After a year of challenges and uncertainty, we are delighted to set a date for our annual Charity Golf Day. Join us on Saturday 28th August and Support Life for anyone affected by a life limiting illness in Kirklees.

Enter as a team of four for the competition and have exclusive use of the golf course alongside other teams participating on the day.

After the last team has finished the course, we will have a post-event presentation and evening of entertainment for all to enjoy.

This year, we’ll be allocating tee times on a first come, first served basis. To have the best chance of securing your preferred tee time, please book your team’s place as soon as you can.

It's really easy to sign up for our Charity Golf Day. Simply contact Martin Folan, Event Organiser, on: 07940 380 996, a member of our Fundraising team on: 01484 557911 or click to button below to download a registration form. Then, fill out the form and send it to: The Kirkwood, 21 Albany Road, Dalton, HD5 9UY.

Entry fee: £140 for a team of four

Your fees includes food and hot drinks prior to your tee off time, 18 holes of golf, pie and peas after your round, and an evening of live entertainment!

If you would like more information about our Charity Golf Day, please contact our friendly Fundraising team on: 01484 557 911 or email: fundraising@thekirkwood.org.uk.

Back in 2006, Martin Folan had the idea to turn his love for golf in to a fundraiser in memory of his sister, Bridie Foster and brother-in-law, Kevin Foster, who was also fondly known as Bomber by those close to him.

Both Bridie and Kevin spent their final days being cared for by The Kirkwood on their In-Patient Unit. Kevin sadly died in 2004 aged just 42, and Martin’s sister, Bridie, died the following year aged 53. Martin held his first fundraiser for The Kirkwood in 2006, gathering 20 friends and fellow golfers for a trip to Galway in Ireland. In 2007, the Charity Golf Day became an annual event.
