Delight for Kirkwood as new Mayor of Kirklees is elected
Representatives from Kirkwood were delighted to be invited to attend the election ceremony of new Mayor of Kirklees, Gwen Lowe, last week. As one of Cllr Lowe's chosen charities for her year in office, it's a big opportunity to raise awareness of the services we provide for people affected by life limiting illnesses across Kirklees.
Being chosen as the Mayor's charity for 2018-19 is an opportunity for Kirkwood to reach new people across Kirklees who may not be aware of the care and support we can offer.

Cllr Lowe represents the council ward of Batley and is passionate about raising the profile of Kirkwood in the north of Kirklees, particularly in underrepresented communities. She has also taken a special interest in Kirkwood's Community Palliative Care Team, and spreading the messge about the care our Community Nurses provide for people in their own homes is one of her missions for the coming year.
Community Fundraiser, Lyndsey Wroe, is excited to be working closely with the new mayor.
She said: "I am delighted that we have been given this fantastic opportunity to collaborate with Gwen in the coming year. She is such a passionate and enthusiastic person who will shout from the rooftops about Kirkwood."
