Black Cat Fireworks raise thousands for patient care

For the second year running, Kirkwood Hospice was delighted to be chosen as the Black Cat Fireworks Charity of the year 2018. Throughout the year, the Black Cat team went the extra mile and raised a staggering £4,000 for patient care.

Long-term supporters, Black Cat Fireworks have been keen friends of Kirkwood for 10 years and 2018 was no exception as they announced back in January that Kirkwood had been chosen as their Charity of the Year.

Throughout 2018 the Black Cat team have pulled together and raised a staggering £4,000 for Kirkwood.

Black Cat/Standard Fireworks are renowned in Huddersfield for their extravagant fireworks and during the Bonfire Night season, they hoped to raise hundreds with their popular sparkler promotion.

The team promoted the sale of £1 sparkler packs, a pack of three bat shaped sparklers, and donated all proceeds directly to Kirkwood, taking the total to £4,000.

During opening hours of their factory shop, staff continued to support Kirkwood with several donation buckets giving them an extra push.

The Crosland Hill based firm also donated their largest fireworks hamper, The Beast Kit, worth £779 as an auction prize for Kirkwood’s Narnia Ball back in November.

When looking back at the successful fundraising over the course of the year, Black Cat’s Finance Manager, Alan Hindle, said: “Kirkwood is a charity that everybody in Huddersfield has heard of, and many have that personal connection with loved ones who have needed their services.

“Black Cat has had a long connection with Kirkwood and have contributed by matching last year’s sparkler giveaway. This is offered in our Factory Shop, where 100% of proceeds from sparkler sales are donated direct to Kirkwood. To us, it’s a fantastic charity - and a no brainer to support.

“So if you are in the market for fireworks, get down to our Factory shop and show your support!”

With New Year’s Eve just around the corner, Black Cat are continuing their fundraising for Kirkwood and promoting their sparkler packs for one more day.

The Black Cat Fireworks Factory Shop will be open for one day only in the run up to New Year’s Eve 2018. Head down on Saturday 29th December and support Kirkwood!

If you'd like to visit the Black Cat Fireworks factory shop, you'll find them at: 17a Standard Drive, Crosland Moor, Huddersfield HD4 7AD.
