Midnight Memory Walk 2020 event officially cancelled

It is with a heavy heart that we have made the difficult decision to cancel this year’s Midnight Memory Walk, which was due to take place Saturday 10th October 2020.

When we made the decision to postpone the Midnight Memory Walk earlier this year and reschedule it for October, it was difficult to predict the future impact the coronavirus would have, but we got our thinking caps on and started planning an event which you could get excited about being a part of, and feel safe about attending. But as the coronavirus pandemic continues to affect our daily lives, and with uncertainty as to when mass participation events might be allowed again, it is clear that holding the Midnight Memory Walk on Saturday 10th October simply won’t be possible.

Kirkwood Events Organiser, Kathryn Box, said: "We hoped it wouldn’t come to this, and it’s not the news we were hoping to share. It comes as a huge blow to everyone here at Kirkwood. Our team of fundraisers and volunteers put their heart and soul into organising this special event, which brings so many people together to remember those special people in all our lives.

"So many of our community look forward to taking part in the Midnight Memory Walk each year. It’s a unique opportunity to come together with friends and family, meet like-minded people and do something amazing for your local hospice. We have exhausted every option available before making this difficult decision.

"I’d like to say a huge thank you to all those who have signed up to take part in the Midnight Memory Walk and choose to support Kirkwood Hospice. We hope lots of you will join us by taking part in the Virtual Memory Walk this October."

With the Midnight Memory Walk not going ahead, we have a number of options for those already signed up to take part.
