KVIN offer a helping hand to The Kirkwood this Christmas
Right now, supporting one another brings a sense of community to these strange times. As we all prepare for a different kind of festive season full of restrictions and changes, we are delighted to join forces with local charity, Kirklees Visual Impairment Network, as part of our Christmas Tree Recycling campaign.
We may be preparing to experience a different kind of festive season and Christmas this year, but as real Christmas trees continue to fly out of the farms, our Fundraising Team are gearing up to recycle hundreds of real trees this January.
The Christmas Tree Recycling campaign is a great way for local businesses and community groups to get involved in team building and volunteer their time to a local cause. And this year, the campaign is being supported by local charity, Kirklees Visual Impairment Network, at their new centre in Batley.
Throughout the campaign between Saturday 9th until Wednesday 13th January, the Kirklees Visual Impairment Network (KVIN) will be a base for volunteers to drop the trees of ready to be chipped. The KVIN team will also be opening their doors and offering refreshments to volunteers throughout the campaign.
KVIN offer support to those affected by sight loss and working closely together the two organisations recognise that they can offer local people a more wholistic service.

The majority of KVIN employees and volunteers are blind or have some sight loss, which provides a sense of comfort to those who access their services.
KVIN’s Sustainability and Development Manager, Christine Stephen, is delighted with the new partnership. Christine said: “The campaign is a good opportunity for charities to work together and showcase what each charity does.
“People often don’t come across people with sight loss making cakes and working in cafes, so offering to offer refreshments to The Kirkwood’s volunteers is an opportunity for KVIN volunteers to help to break down myths around being blind.”
Supporting local charities this winter is paramount to ensuring they are there for those that need them, and our Christmas Tree Recycling campaign is an easy way to give back to your local community and help The Kirkwood support families affected by a life limiting illness in Kirklees.
The well-established campaign is an alternate way of getting rid of your tree minus the hassle of doing the job yourself. Forget trying to fit the tree in your car and drag it to the tip in January, our volunteers will collect your tree and do the disposing for you.
