Christmas Tree Recycling

That’s a wrap for this year’s Christmas Tree Collections!
With the help of our official partner, FMG our volunteers have driven the breadth of Kirklees collecting a massive 1,844 trees which has raised a phenomenal £37,000! We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who donated and booked their tree for collection. The money raised ensures that The Kirkwood can continue to provide vital care and support for individuals and families across our community who are living with life limiting illnesses.
The Kirkwood Christmas tree collections will be returning next year for another round of piney fresh smells, and we’re already looking forward to another year of collecting and recycling trees across your local area.
Pre-register your tree NOW and get your reminder locked in for when registration officially open later this year for 2027.
Disposing of a real Christmas tree after the holidays can be a hassle and choosing to pre-register ensures you will be the first to know as soon as our bookings officially open. When you book your tree form collection with The Kirkwood you are helping to support our incredible nurses doctors and healthcare professionals to continue providing vital care for patients and families across Kirklees living with life limiting illness.

We would like to share a huge thank you to FMG who joined us in 2025 as official partners of The Kirkwood Christmas Tree Collections. Their work dealing with logistics, morning briefings and safety checks, as well as managing the vehicles and providing many of our volunteers, has helped to streamline our collections significantly.
"We’re incredibly proud to support The Kirkwood’s Christmas Tree Collection Appeal. Our colleagues genuinely love to support this campaign, as well as our sister company Northgate who donated five vans, as it raises an outstanding amount for a fantastic cause that means so much to our community.
"This year, we were delighted to take on the full logistics of the campaign, from hosting morning briefings over breakfast, to streamlining routes and updating collections in real time. Thanks to everyone’s incredible effort, over 1,800 trees were collected – the power of collaboration and team effort at its best!
"As we move into 2026, our support for The Kirkwood continues and we look forward to exploring new ways to help fund The Kirkwood’s vital care and support for families in our local community."

We would also like to extend a special thank you to all the incredible businesses and charities that helped us achieve another successful year of collections. Whether you provided corporate charity days, transportation, drop zones or tree chipping services, your support has been fantastic. It has been a true pleasure to work together, and we hope to see you again next year.
Towards the end of our collections, we focus on the recycling aspect of our campaign and turn your real Christmas trees into natural chippings. These chippings are used in various beneficial ways. AK Agricultural sends composted chippings to private energy companies to help generate green power supplies. Furthermore, Oakwell Hall uses some of the trees in their natural form to create wildlife habitats while the chippings are used for natural paths during the wet months.

By booking your tree for collection with The Kirkwood you have chosen a simple and efficient way to help the environment and support your local hospice.
