Christmas with The Kirkwood: 12 Days of Kindness

The coronavirus pandemic has impacted all our lives this year, but we've also seen our community pull together and support each other more than ever before. To kick-start our Christmas with The Kirkwood campaign, we thought we would put together 12 things that you can do over the festive period to continue helping those around you.

1. Send a Christmas message to our teams

Send a direct message to us with a special message for us to share with our teams in the lead up to Christmas. Send your message via our Facebook, Twitter and Instagram page or email us at: marketing@thekirkwood.org.uk

2. Bake a cake for your neighbour

Dig out your aprons and bake a festive treat for your neighbour over the Christmas period. Deliver the surprise to their doorstep and don’t forget to maintain social distance. Here are some festive cake recipes to get you started.

3. Share one of our posts

Over the next couple of weeks we will be sharing lots of festive content on social media. Help us reach more people by sharing a post!

4. Tell a family member you love them

Sharing how we feel can often be difficult, make sure to take a moment over the Christmas period to tell a family member you love them.

5. Register for our Christmas Tree Recycling campaign

If you have a real Christmas tree this year, register for it to be collected with our Christmas Tree Recycling campaign. For more inegister your tree today by clicking here.

6. Check in on a friend over Christmas

Many of us have faced huge challenges this year, dedicate some time on Christmas Day to make a phonecall to a friend you know might be struggling.

7. Donate a bag of pre-loved items to our shops

Make room for this year’s Christmas gifts and donate a bag of items to your local The Kirkwood shop. For more information on our shops, click here.

8. Buy an extra item of food on your Christmas shop

Our local foodbanks often have donation bins in supermarkets, buy an extra item of food to donate on your Christmas shop.

9. Visit one of our Festive Light Trails

Spend time with your family and take a trip to see one of our Festive Light Trails across Kirklees. Our Festive Light Trails are running every day up until Christmas Eve in Honley, Fixby & Cowcliffe, Mirfield and Almondbury, Fenay Bridge & Lepton. To download a free trail map, click here.

10. Compliment a work colleague

This year, colleagues have pulled together to support one another more than ever before. Reach out to a colleague that has supported you and thank them for their help.
