A special thank you to all our Nurses

As we come together to celebrate Nurses Day 2022, everyone connected with The Kirkwood would like to say thank you to every single one of our nurses for their continued hard work and dedication to those in our care.

The past 12 months have once again been dominated by the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. It’s been a year of constant change as we have adapted to restrictions and limitations in our personal and professional lives.

For many of us, the easing of restrictions over the past few months has meant a return to a more normal way of life. For our hardworking teams however, they continue to face the daily challenge of keeping our patients and their families safe from the danger still posed by COVID-19.

Despite all of the challenges posed, our dedicated nurses have continued to care for the most vulnerable in our community, whether in peoples’ own homes, in care homes, over the phone or on our In-Patient Unit. In every area of our work, The Kirkwood Nurses have continued to do everything they can to keep our patients and their families safe, going above and beyond to protect those in our care.

Standing side by side with colleagues across the NHS, our nurses have helped to make sure that those in need continue to be able to access the care they need, when and where  they need it.

Michael Crowther, Chief Executive of The Kirkwood, paid a special tribute to our nursing team for their continued efforts in the face of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

“I’d like to take this opportunity to say a huge and heartfelt thank you to all of The Kirkwood Nurses for their dedication and commitment over the past 12 months, despite the many challenges which continue to be posed by the pandemic. We don’t often get a chance to stop and reflect on our achievements, but there is no better opportunity to show our gratitude than on Nurses’ Day.

"The Kirkwood Nurses help to improve the quality of life for our patients every single day. That means something different to each patient and I am so proud of the lengths our team go to to provide the very best personalised care available anywhere in the country.

“After another difficult year, Nurses’ Day is an chance to reflect on the huge difficulties our nurses have faced and overcome to ensure the care we offer continues to meet the needs of people here in Kirklees.

“I would like to thank my nurses for their passion, continued resilience and hard work over the past year. Our team are a true asset to the people of Kirklees and I am extremely proud of each one of them.”

As well as celebrating The Kirkwood Nurses, Michael is also keen to pay tribute to the hard work of nursing staff across Kirklees.

“We work hand in hand with professional colleagues across Kirklees to deliver outstanding palliative and end of life care for local people. And just like The Kirkwood Nurses, nurses working in the NHS and for Locala have continued to work tirelessly over the past 12 months as we continue to navigate our way through COVID-19. Working together, we continue to help people when they need us most.

“I’d like to pay tribute to all the nurses here in Kirklees, whether in hospitals, GP surgeries or out in the community.”
