Celebrate precious moments and keep their memory alive this December

Each December, Light up a Life brings our community together to reflect on the moments we’ve shared with the people we love. It is a time to pause and remember, to think back to the laughter, the love, and the precious memories that will always stay with us. Each light represents not only a life remembered, but also the treasured memories we carry in our hearts. As candles are lit, we take time together to honour those who are no longer with us, while finding comfort and strength in the presence of others who understand.

Light Up A Life is more than a moment of remembrance, it is a celebration of the connections that continue to shine brightly, and the strength we find in coming together as a community. By dedicating a light, you’ll also be helping to support local families in Kirklees, ensuring The Kirkwood can be there to offer care, compassion and time when it matters most, for generations to come. In addition to making a dedication, we invite you to join us for a series of services in The Kirkwood Gardens. After our Light up a Life event, our picturesque gardens will transform into a haven of light throughout the festive period, with each light on our tree shining out in memory of those you love.

This December, we will host events at The Kirkwood Gardens in Dalton and Longcauseway Church in Dewsbury.

When you've made a dedication to your loved one, you will receive a heartfelt card with your loved one's name. We would also like to invite you to one of our events, held on Saturday 6th December and Sunday 7th December for a memorable evening of readings, music, and moments for reflection, as well as the lighting of our tree, each light shining brightly in memory of your loved ones. Make a Dedication Online

Our online dedication page is available for you to remember your loved one by sharing a heartfelt message and a photo if you desire. This page serves as a significant and lasting way to immortalise the memories of someone you hold dear during the festive period, with the opportunity to invite your family and friends to view your tribute, no matter where they are.

To create your dedication, please click on the button below.

If you choose to make a dedication online, we'll automatically send you a heartfelt card bearing the name of the person you love. If you would like to attend one of our in-person events, please give our team a call on 01484 557 911 after making your dedication online to reserve your place.

Everyone who makes a dedication online will automatically receive a homepack. If you’d prefer not to receive one, please let us know by emailing fundraising@thekirkwood.org.uk or call 01484 557 911.

Sunday 7th December at 5pm – The Kirkwood Gardens, Huddersfield
Sunday 7th December at 10.30am – Longcauseway Church, Dewsbury
