UK Greetings say Happy Birthday with a Card

Greeting card company UK Greetings create bespoke Birthday Card to help Kirkwood Hospice celebrate its 30th Anniversary.

As part of Kirkwood Hospice’s 30th Anniversary celebrations, Dewsbury based card maker UK Greetings took up the challenge of designing a unique limited edition Birthday card to help Kirkwood Hospice raise vital funds.

The one-off design is now on sale at Kirkwood Hospice and in its 21 shops, with all the proceeds going to the charity.

The eye-catching card was chosen by patients, staff and volunteers at the Hospice from a shortlist of designs produced by the creative team at UK Greetings.

Although each design proved popular, the celebratory theme of the winning card – an abstract illustration by Liz Kay featuring a party popper and multi-coloured confetti – gave it the edge in the vote.

And with the help of Chris Hudson of Bradford based print and wrapping firm Wrapid Manufacturing, the Hospice has had 3,000 cards produced free of charge. This means that 100% of every card sale will go directly toward helping patients and their families being cared for by Kirkwood.

The opportunity came about after Katie Ellis, who has helped to raise thousands of pounds for Kirkwood as an organiser of the T3 Farm Challenge, introduced the Hospice team to Catherine Dodd, UK Greetings’ Studio Director.

Kirkwood fundraiser, Lyndsey Richardson, was keen to produce a special celebration card that could be sold to mark the Hospice’s special year so the opportunity to work with Catherine and her team was something that the Hospice couldn’t pass up.

Lyndsey said: “It’s been a great experience to work with UK Greetings. Catherine and her team have been so enthusiastic and really got behind the idea.

“They have offered their time and expertise to support us from the very start and have been really open to our ideas and feedback.”

Lyndsey is now excited to have the cards on sale after months of work, and is hoping they will prove a big success.

Kirkwood’s bespoke Birthday Card is now available for just £1.79 with all proceeds from the sale of each card going to Kirkwood.
