Paul Mustchin from Made By Cooper is raising funds for The Kirkwood by taking part in our Firewalk
This March The Kirkwood supporters are taking on a tough challenge to raise funds for charity as they walk across hot fire embers.
The challenge will take place on the 16th March at Hub 26 in Cleckheaton, there is still time to sign up for the challenge if you want to push your body to the limit in the aid for The Kirkwood.
One person that is taking on the challenge is Paul who works for local employer Made By Cooper. The company is one of The Kirkwood Business Movement Members. However, Paul wanted to take on this extra challenge to raise event more funds for us.
On taking on the challenge, Paul said: I’m the marketing executive at Made By Cooper and I’ve worked closely with the charity since I started at the company last year.
“I’m excited to do the firewalk, it will be a challenge for me but one I am looking forward to. I don’t like my feet getting hot, so you can say this is the right challenge for me to take on. It's like the second I get home from work and get through the door, I take my socks and shoes off, and when I’m in bed I have my feet sticking out, I hate having hot feet.
“It's a good chance for me to experience something new and it's a good opportunity for the company to show they are getting out there and supporting local causes.
“I don’t know of anyone who has needed direct support from The Kirkwood but I do believe in what the charity does. I know the funds I raise and whatever we raise as a company is very much appreciated and is needed to help from The Kirkwood support anyone with a life limiting illness.
“I hve done half marathons for different charities in the past my gran died in a Marie-Curie hospice and my ex-father-in-law passed away and Macmillan took care of him."
“I've suffered from mental health problems in the past, so I did a half marathon for the MIND charity too. So, I'd say I know how difficult it is for organisations like The Kirkwood to raise the vital funds they need.
“Well, I think The Kirkwood a really important organisation because most of the time people look at charities who help people to overcome illnesses and problems and issues.
“However, for many people they can't overcome the challenges they are facing with their life limiting illnesses. Those people do need to be taken care of with the dignity and respect that everybody deserves and that’s what The Kirkwood provides people with, as well as a whole lot more.”
