Man vs. Lakes Marathon
Kirkwood say a huge thank you to Lawrence Christensen and Jonathan Dickson who recently completed the Man vs. Lakes Marathon - the most gruelling marathon in Britain – all in aid of the Hospice.
The pair decided to take part in this event in memory of Lawrence’s Mother-in-Law, Noreen, who spent her final days at Kirkwood in 2016.

Lawrence and Jonathan kicked off the event with an energy sapping crossing of Morecambe Bay and its notorious quicksand before heading north through mountainous terrain towards England’s most famous lake – Lake Windermere.
The event included a brutal crossing of Windermere at its narrowest point and a 3000ft ascent including a ‘Vertical Kilometre’.
Coming out the other side, Lawrence and Jonathan have raised a wonderful £2,100 towards patient care at Kirkwood Hospice.
Lawrence said: “Noreen was diagnosed with stage 4 terminal cancer in October 2016. This was an extremely frightening time for our family.
"Noreen lived her final days in dignity, feeling safe and cared for." Lawrence Christensen
“Soon after the diagnosis, Noreen was admitted to Kirkwood, which proved to be a special place.
“Noreen lived her final days in dignity, feeling safe and cared for. It proved to be a place where our entire family felt supported. This is why Jonathan and I decided to take part in this event in aid of Kirkwood.”
On behalf of everyone at Kirkwood Hospice, we would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Lawrence and Jonathan for completing this monumental challenge in aid of Kirkwood.
