Local Freemasons ‘Putt’ on Golf Challenge in Aid of Kirkwood

A local Masonic Lodge have made a generous gift of £2,045 to Kirkwood Hospice, in memory of a former member.

Amphibious Lodge 258, in Heckmondwike, decided to fundraise for Kirkwood after the Hospice provided care for a much loved member, Peter Worthington, when he was diagnosed with a life-limiting illness.

The Lodge held a golf challenge in tribute to Peter, who was a keen golfer. The golf challenge was promoted to family, friends and colleagues and resulted in a fantastic uptake. The Lodge also hosted a ladies evening, including a raffle, which helped to increase the total raised even more.

Jamie Hunt, from Amphibious Lodge 258, was delighted at the turn out for the event, and grateful that so many people came to support Kirkwood in memory of Peter.

He said: “Peter was an extremely popular member, who is greatly missed by us all.

“As a Lodge, we wanted to do something for Kirkwood in appreciation of the support they provided to Peter and his wife, Carolyn, at an extremely difficult time. We are thrilled that we have been able to raise a nice amount for such a worthy local cause.”
