Lawrence Batley Theatre’s Fairytale Fundraiser
The Lawrence Batley Theatre stage special fundraising performance of Cinderella to raise vital funds for Kirkwood Hospice.
The Lawrence Batley Theatre (LBT), Huddersfield, is thrilled to announce that on Saturday 10th December, at 2.30pm, it raised £2,124 at a special fundraising performance of its exciting new pantomime, Cinderella.
Funds were raised in aid of Kirkwood Hospice, as well as to support the theatre’s 21st Birthday appeal.
Victoria Firth, Director at Lawrence Batley Theatre, presenting the cheque for £2,124 to Kirkwood Hospice's Community Fundraiser, Nicola Barber.
In 2015, the LBT launched a 21st Birthday appeal which aims to help both update the venue itself, and to maintain the quality and range of the programme on offer.
This fund has three main priories, the first of which is to support the venue’s dance, drama and opera events and to ensure that the best companies keep coming back to Huddersfield.
The appeal also helps to ensure that local children and young people have access to the arts – both in the venue and out in the community.
Finally, the company also wish to sustain the maintenance of the Grade II listed building and its auditorium, as well as update the existing theatrical equipment.
"We couldn’t continue caring for our patients and their families without the kindness and generosity of the community." Nicola Barber
Nicola Barber, Community Fundraiser at Kirkwood Hospice is extremely grateful to the theatre for their generous donation and keen for the group to know what a difference their support will make.
She said: “We would like to say a huge thank you to the team at Lawrence Batley Theatre for supporting Kirkwood and for choosing us to benefit from their show on the 10th December. Their support means a great deal.
We couldn’t continue caring for our patients and their families without the kindness and generosity of the community.”
Victoria Firth, Director at Lawrence Batley Theatre added:
“Having visited Kirkwood Hospice, I was moved by what an excellent and vital facility it offers for the people of Kirklees.
This was an exciting opportunity for us to partner with and support another local charity as part of our festive celebrations.”
