Huddersfield Lions Cook up a Treat for Kirkwood
Kirkwood Hospice have received a wonderful donation of £25,091 towards the refurbishment of their kitchen from the Huddersfield Lions Club.
The Huddersfield Lions, part of Lions Clubs International, are a Charitable Trust raising and using money to support local, national and international projects.
As part of their 60th Anniversary year celebrations, the Lions decided to pursue a big fundraising challenge.
The club selected Kirkwood’s kitchen refurbishment, which was in in urgent need of an upgrade after being in continuous use since the Hospice first opened in March 1987.

Many fundraising activities were pursued to raise this fantastic total, including a ‘Hot Rod’ custom car show in Lepton, where rare vintage and classic cars were on display for the public’s enjoyment, as well as a selection of stalls with activities for the entire family.
An Easter egg raffle at pubs and clubs throughout Kirklees was also organised, amongst other fundraising activities.

Kirkwood fundraiser, Wasim Hussain, would like to thank the team for their support, which will have a real positive impact on the Hospice.
He said: “We are extremely grateful to the Huddersfield Lions Club for this fabulous contribution towards our new kitchen.
“The new kitchen will allow us to meet the needs and wishes of our patients and their families more effectively, at what is a hugely distressing and difficult time.”
