Denby Dale Coffee Shop commemorate Dying Matters Week
On Tuesday 9th May, Denby Dale Community Library held a Coffee and Cake Party to celebrate 30 years of Kirkwood Hospice in Dying Matters Week.
On the sunny afternoon of Tuesday 9th May during Dying Matters Week, Kirkwood Hospice invited supporters to the Denby Dale Community Library and Café to enjoy a coffee and a free slice of cake to celebrate the Hospice’s 30th anniversary and commemorate the special week.

As well as offering Dying Matters support, the Library was dressed head-to-toe in 30th Anniversary gear with balloons and bunting and the Hospice’s party packs were on offer to inspire people to host their own party in aid of Kirkwood.
In-keeping with the party theme, attendees enjoyed a raffle provided by Dee’s Support Group and four delicious free cakes provided by Total Foods, as well as enjoying a wander round the Denby Dale Gift Shop.

In exchange for a donation, guests could also take part in the ‘guess the weight of the cake’ game organised by Denise Cobbett, for the chance to win Shannon Timmin’s special handmade 30th Kirkwood cake.

“On the day, we had a range of leaflets scattered about covering topics ranging from what you can do to support someone coping with bereavement to bucket lists of things to do before you die, as well as having a team of experienced healthcare staff on hand to offer advice and support.
“We really appreciate all the support of the café staff and volunteers who without, the day would not have been possible.”
