A Knockout Success for Kirkwood Hospice!

In a record-breaking event, last Saturday 42 novice boxers took to the ring to raise an explosive £11,062 for Kirkwood Hospice at Left Jab Promotions’ event: Boxing 4 Kirkwood: Round III.

On Saturday 1st April, the Apna Venue in Huddersfield centre was full to capacity as 42 novice boxers stepped into the ring to battle it out for Kirkwood.

On the night, a sell-out-crowd of over 650 supporters were in attendance to cheer on the fighters and see them take on one of the biggest challenges of their lives.

The white-collar event began 10 weeks ago for the 42 individuals across Kirklees who had never thrown a punch before in their life; giving them just over two months to learn the art of the sport from scratch.

The amateur boxers underwent 10 weeks of intense and specialised training, provided completely free-of-charge by an amazing and dedicated team of coaches at Left Jab Promotions.

The evening saw 21 intense bouts and a night of end-to-end action, all to see who would triumph in the ring.

After the brawls, attendees were invited to an after-party held at Rhubarb Cafe Bar and Cleopatra’s Lounge, Huddersfield for an awards ceremony with titles such as Best Male and Female Boxer, Most Improved Male and Female Boxer and Most Technical Bout of the Night being claimed.

Through sell-out ticket sales, a JustGiving sponsorship page and a raffle and auction on the night offering various boxing memorabilia, Boxing 4 Kirkwood: Round III racked up over £11,000 for patient care on the night, making Kirkwood the real winner.

Boxing 4 Kirkwood: Round III is the third amateur boxing event organised by Left Jab Promotions, which have now raised a staggering £30,000 for Kirkwood Hospice in less than 10 months.

Event Organisers from Left Jab Promotions, Sean Reynolds and partner Stacey Elson, are keen to thank their incredible team of committed coaches: Niall Merrifield, Clair Shaw, Richard Roberts-Popham, James Auterson and Jayson Brooks and event sponsors: Herculean Nutrition and Cleopatra’s Lounge, Huddersfield.

Kirkwood Hospice Fundraiser, Dawn Walker, who was cheering along on the night, is astounded at the amount raised and keen to thank the whole team at Left Jab Promotions for their commitment to Kirkwood.

She said: “For the third time, Boxing4Kirkwood was a hugely successful and entertaining night and the team at the Hospice is so grateful to everyone involved in the event for organising such an amazing fundraiser for Kirkwood.

“It takes real passion and commitment to raise such an enormous total and we hope that everybody knows what a difference their money will make towards those who rely on our services.

“The Hospice simply wouldn’t exist without voluntary donations and the amazing support of the people of Kirklees.”
