Philip Sands
Trustee
Philip trained as a social worker and worked for Kirklees Social Services for 13 years before becoming a Director of the Calderdale and Kirklees Health Authority. He resigned after 15 years in the NHS, finishing as a PCT Chief Executive in North Kirklees. He then worked in management consultancy for four years.
Philip completed an MBA at Manchester Business School in 1990.
He has lived in Kirklees throughout his life and now lives in Shepley. He plays golf at Woodsome and likes to travel. He has traveled extensively around Europe in a caravan and has spent time backpacking in South America and Asia. He has also travelled around the USA, Australia and New Zealand in a motor home.
He says: “I believe that Kirkwood is a brilliant charity and brand, but needs to launch itself into the future. We have the baby boomers entering old age and we need to bring dying more centre stage so that living can be more enjoyable.”
