Chair of Trustees

Lorraine holds a wealth of knowledge and experience through 20 years NHS service, having gained significant operational and strategic experience working across all sectors (acute trust, community provider, commissioning organisation, national team). She is passionate about working within healthcare and draws on her insight and experience in order to support The Kirkwood in delivering the best quality care for individuals and families throughout Kirklees.  

Currently living in Birstall, Lorraine has her roots in Kirklees, and following her childhood in Mirfield a career in the NHS beckoned. Lorraine’s career has included a number of commercial roles across the health service, where she enjoyed the opportunities to drive forward income generation and business development. Her professional role is now within the strategic delivery function at NHS England.  

Lorraine utilises her breadth of skills and expertise in healthcare to make a valuable contribution to the local community in a voluntary capacity. Appointed a Trustee of The Kirkwood in 2012, she has found the role extremely enjoyable and immensely rewarding. During her tenure, Lorraine progressed to the position of Chair of the Finance and Resources Committee, and additionally the responsibility of Vice Chair. Lorraine was elected as Chair of Trustees and commenced the role in March 2023.
