Michael Crowther

Chief Executive

Michael took up the role of Chief Executive at The Kirkwood in April 2014. He applied for the role because of a strong interest in palliative and end of life care, instilled in him by his Mum, who was a Community Nurse in Huddersfield. Being a local man, Michael was aware of the Hospice growing up and of its excellent reputation for high quality care. Michael was driven to help the charity continue to develop and benefit local people.

Michael grew up in Kirklees and returned to live here in 2003 with his wife and 2 children.

Michael has had a varied career to date, working in the private, public and voluntary sectors. After being responsible for all national contracts for BUPA's healthcare recruitment businesses, Michael moved to the NHS in 2002 to help lead the development of an in-house commercial medical recruitment organisation (NHS Professionals). This was followed by roles in Performance Improvement and Business Development in NHS community services. Michael was part of the Senior Management Team that created the Social Enterprise Locala Community Partnerships CIC in Kirklees.

Michael is a keen fan of Huddersfield Town Football Club, enjoys travelling with his family and collecting music.
