World Smile Day
On Friday 2nd October, our teams got together virtually to celebrate World Smile Day with one another, and this was the result!
The Smiley Face was created by artist Harvey Ball in 1963 and has now become the most recognisable symbol for good will and cheer on the planet. Harvey thought that each of us should devote one day each year to smiles and kind acts in the world. The smiley face knows no politics, no geography and no religion, and he thought that for one day, neither should we.
Harvey Ball declared the first Friday in October to be World Smile Day, a day to do an act of kindness, and make one person smile.
This year's World Smile Day was all the more important for our teams, as we have all had to adapt to new ways of showing support to one another whilst working remotely. As our Clinical Teams have found new ways comforting our patients, carers and families, our smiles are often hidden when communicating virtually or whilst wearing face masks.
With this in mind, our teams wanted to come together, no matter where they were working, and show our community that although you might not be able to see them right now, we continue to smile everyday underneath our masks.
