Woodsome Hall Golf day raises thousands of pounds for The Kirkwood

The Woodsome Hall Golf Day was a huge success, raising vital funds for The Kirkwood totalling over £12,000.

The Woodsome Hall Golf Club Charity Golf Day was held on Wednesday 8th September. Sponsored by Rolls Royce, every competitor had enormous fun whilst helping to raise funds to help The Kirkwood Support Life right here in Kirklees.

The event started with Trick-Shot maestro Jeremy Dale, who was to later compere the evening’s entertainment.

15 teams of four competed in a shot-gun start, and the eventual winners were an all-member team comprising of: Rob Kelly, Craig Waddington, Amer Latif and Paddy Carmody.

Before the competitors tucked in to a delicious evening meal, the golfers were treated to a talk by Steve Kindon. After dinner, a game of stand-up bingo and raffle helped to bolster donations. Michael Crowther, The Kirkwood's Chief Executive, thanked guests for their efforts.

Jeremy Dale then gave an entertaining speech and compered an auction; with the star item being a Tanzanite and Diamond cluster ring, kindly donated by John Butterfield of JPB Jewellery.

Rolls Royce offered a factory tour and a chauffeured car for a day, Richard Butterfield generously agreed to pilot a lucky couple in his WW2 bi-plane. Richard Haygarth provided golf and accommodation at the fabulous Cave resort in Faversham, Steve Kindon and Maria Cullen donated four balls at Lytham St Annes courses – Fairhaven and St Anne’s Old Links. Finally, Jeremy offered three golfers the opportunity to join him at his course – Cleeve Hill in Cheltenham. With the bidding getting competitive, he very kindly agreed that two groups should both have a day with him.

A huge thanks to all teams, all bidders, all buyers, all donators, and all at Woodsome who helped to make it such a brilliant day. The net sum raised on the day was a fabulous £12,200, which will help us Support Life for those who rely on our care..
