Tractor Festival raises over £6,500 for The Kirkwood

The Huddersfield Tractor Festival took place on the 24th of July this year and raised over £6,500 for The Kirkwood.

The now annual event was created in 2019 and the money that is raised is split between The Kirkwood and the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.

Having raised an outstanding £6,000 in total for both charities in 2019 the committee of the festival led by Steven and Barbara Hirstle wanted to make the next Tractor Fest bigger and better than ever.

With Covid-19 putting pay to Tractor Fest 2020, Steven and Barbara were determined to make 2021 a year to remember.

It was a Tractor enthusiasts delight on the day as 80 tractors turned up in all to be viewed. Some that go back decades and were vintage models. There were various stalls on the field and games being played and with the sun shining the beautiful backdrop of Kirkheaton made the event an even more stunning success.

The target was to raise more than the £6,000 total raised in 2019. Well they amazingly doubled that amount and came out with a grand total of £13,000. Again this will be split between The Kirkwood and the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.

On the event Barbara said: "The day was just a huge success and we are extremely proud that we could raise this amount of money. We had over 4,000 people visit us on the day.

"The weather was gorgeous and everything just ran perfectly. We know how much this money means to these charities and it's going to help lots of people.

"We would like to thank all the volunteers who helped us, without their time and hard work the event just wouldn't run as well as it does. It just shows how both the Kirkheaton and farming communities come together to raise money for two amazing causes."

Planning has already started for next year's event where the ambitious committee is hoping to raise even more money for both charities.
