The Kirkwood Business Movement Members Champion The Kirkwood Starlight Walk 2025

Kirklees prepares for a night to remember as business community throws its support behind The Kirkwood’s most magical fundraising event of the year.

The Kirkwood Starlight Walk is set to return on Saturday 5th July 2025, starting at 10pm, with hundreds of passionate supporters coming together under the night sky of Kirklees. The event promises to be bigger and brighter than ever before, a dazzling event of remembrance, community spirit, and fundraising for a cause that touches lives across the region.

As the flagship fundraising event of the year for The Kirkwood, the charity dedicated to supporting life, providing care, and making a difference for people affected by life limiting illnesses, the Starlight Walk is more than just a walk.

It’s a powerful symbol of hope and togetherness. Last year saw over 1,300 people lace up their walking boots in solidarity, and 2025 aims to build on that momentum with the invaluable support of local businesses.

This year, The Kirkwood Business Movement Members are stepping up to ensure the event shines brighter than ever. Syngenta remains a committed primary supporter, but new sponsors have added their weight behind the cause. Local business Big Box joins the event as official t-shirt sleeve sponsor, while Fox’s Engravers return as proud sponsors of the walkers’ medals, a cherished memento of the night.

Beverley Shaw, Business Movement Development Manager at The Kirkwood, spoke passionately about the business community’s growing involvement: “The Kirkwood delivers the biggest walk in Kirklees, with 1,300 people taking part last year. This is also the flagship event of the year for the charity and its fundraising activities.

“With this in mind, the event provides a fantastic opportunity for our business community, both for teams to get involved in walking or volunteering, or as a platform for businesses to give visibility to their own brands and support to The Kirkwood.

“We are delighted to continue to hold the support from Syngenta as our primary supporter, but also the introduction of two of The Kirkwood Business Movement Members: Big Box as our t-shirt sleeve sponsors and Fox’s Engravers as medal providers and sponsors.

“This year, we have introduced sponsored water stations to contribute to both income and to enhance our walkers' experience en route. We are delighted so many of our Business Movement Members have taken up this opportunity.

“A collaborative partnership from Purple Dog First Aid Training and Basegreen will ensure all those involved are safe and well looked after during the event. Complemented, of course, by over 40 4x4 volunteers from our good friends at West Yorkshire 4x4, who will be visible and present on all routes taken by our walkers.

“After personally experiencing nine years of our annual walk, I understand what this means to those taking part and how important it is for The Kirkwood. Therefore, to be able to have the support of an increasing number of businesses involved in the event is fantastic.”

With music, lights, and a sense of purpose lighting the way, The Kirkwood Starlight Walk 2025 will once again offer an unforgettable night where memories are honoured, lives are celebrated, and the future of compassionate care is supported, all thanks to the incredible partnership between The Kirkwood and the Kirklees business community.
