The Kirkwood Business Movement member Jay-Be raises thousands for our charity

The Kirkwood is immensely proud of the fact that we have a great relationship with local businesses across Kirklees. These local businesses support us in many ways whether that is fundraising for us or providing their staff and volunteers to support our functions and services.

One company that has done some fantastic fundraising for us is Jay-Be, founded here in Yorkshire Jay-Be evolved throughout generations to become well known for creating industry leading sleep products which are functional, innovative and environmentally conscious. As one of the UK's most popular bed brands,

For nearly a decade Jay-Be has been raising funds for us which stretch into the thousands of pounds and that has helped us to support hundreds of people across our region who are living with a life limiting illness.

We spoke to Jay-Be’s Managing Director Mark Cort and Head of People and Culture Leanne Scargill about their support of our charity. For the last few months Jay-Be have been providing us with their products to sell in our shops. This initiative has raised over £6,400 which is a brilliant amount and something we very proud of.

On this initiative, Leanne said: “So we've been working with The Kirkwood for many years now. We're a local business, so we like to make sure that we're working with local charities that help and support local people. We’ve had employees, friends and family that have used the hospice in the past and we believe The Kirkwood offers a vital service to local people in Kirklees.

“The scheme has gone really well, we have provided the shops with a range of products which includes: sofa beds, mattresses and folding beds. The products seem to have gone down well in the shops which has been great to see.”

“During our talks with The Kirkwood to develop the relationship between our company and the charity I have also become a Support Life Champion for The Kirkwood. I’m very proud of this role and one I take seriously too.”

Mark also commented on the relationship by commenting: “It's been nice to hear The Kirkwood’s feedback about how well it's gone down. As Leanne has said it's nice to support the local community because we have had a lot of employees that have been touched by The Kirkwood’s support and care and so for us we feel it’s important to give back to such a vital charity.”

Business Development Manager Beverley Shaw also comment on the fundraising efforts by Jay-Be, she said: “ Jay-Be have supported us over many years and I think it’s lovely to see that continued support which has led to us securing a substantial amount of funds generated by the sale of their products in our retail chain. They’ve helped promote our retail shops and we’ve promoted Jay-Be, and it's a brilliant relationship that is really flourishing. We really do appreciate all their support and I am looking forward to how our relationship develops in the future.”
