Team Serenity raises £3,600 at their annual Ladies’ Lunch.
Team Serenity is a collective of incredibly dedicated and enthusiastic individuals who host fundraising events throughout the year supporting The Kirkwood. Since 2017, the ladies of Team Serenity have raised £60,000 with their fundraising efforts, continuing to climb with each event, including the successful funding and purchase of a cuddle bed for The Kirkwood's In Patient Unit.
On Friday, 5th July, Team Serenity held their annual Ladies' Lunch at the prestigious Bagden Hall, Denby Dale, inviting guests to join them for an afternoon of retail therapy, dining and a talk from local celebrities and special guest speakers of the afternoon, Rob & Dave owners of Cannon Hall Farm, with a guest appearance from their dad Roger, joining them at the fundraiser.
Guests began to arrive from 11am onwards, enjoying the opportunity to socialise and peruse the pop-up shops, including Sophia Rita Boutique, Wish and Believe Gifts, The Beauty Spa selling Clarins skincare and more. Rob, Dave and Roger circulated the room, greeting guests as they arrived, on their way to visit The Kirkwood Photo Booth to strike a pose with attendees for their souvenir photograph in exchange for a donation. Guests enjoyed a brief meet and greet with the Channel 5 farmers before smiling for the camera.
Also in attendance was Katy Lambert from BBC Radio Leeds, catching up with Team Serenity following their nomination for the Fundraisers Award at the Make a Difference Awards 2024, with the winners selected by a panel of judges and announced this September.
A hive of activity and conversation, guests were ushered into the dining area, where they were invited to join in some fundraising games before placing their "bets" on the "Cannon Hall Cow Race" competition between the brothers. Both Rob and Dave, seated on chairs with their backs to the race line, were handed the reins of their cows, and on the noise of the claxon, the brothers began herding their cows to the finish line to the cheers and delight of the onlookers in the room, with Dave taking the crown of head herder.
Following on from the entertainment of the brothers' friendly competition, Lunch was served, with a choice of Roast Chicken Breast served with Dauphinoise Potatoes, Roast Potatoes, Seasonal Vegetables and a White Wine Sauce Or the vegetarian option of Nut Roast served with Pomegranate and Beetroot Salsa, Sautéed New Potatoes, Red Onion Jus, perfectly presented by the Bagden Hall catering team and followed up with a sweet treat of Lime Cheesecake with Pouring Cream.
The afternoon continued with a talk from brothers Rob and Dave, with help from their dad, Roger. They shared their family history on the farm with the room, from humble beginnings to TV opportunities with Channel 5, catapulting the brothers into the public eye, with visitors from all over the world coming to see the now famed tourist destination, Cannon Hall Farm.
Next on the microphone was Lynne Hall-Bentley and Penny Wade from The Kirkwood, with a short presentation about the services the charity provides in the communities of Kirklees, including a video of Team Serenity's demonstration of the cuddle bed they had kindly fundraised for, and Richard Poole sharing his story about his wife Katrina and the fundraising he does in her memory, in support of The Kirkwood. Finishing the day's events with auction and raffle draw announcements, with some fantastic prizes donated and won, including a bottle of Whiskey from the Houses of Parliament kindly donated by Mark Eastwood, a beautiful bouquet from Watering Can Florist, x3 package deals with an overnight stay at Bagden Hall and complimentary entry into Cannon Hall Farm to name a few. The Ladies' Lunch finished on a high!
Finally, we'd like to take this opportunity to thank Team Serenity for what was another sold out successful event and for all your hard work and efforts you put into creating such a marvellous fundraiser. Good luck with the Make a Difference Awards, it's a great accomplishment, and we've everything crossed for you to bring home the win.
