27 Jun 2025 Getting to Know...
Raise your glass and lace up your boots, because The Kirkwood Pub Hop is here!
On Saturday 6th September 2025, a brand-new, brilliantly brewed event is taking over the local countryside, pairing pints with purpose and turning pub lovers into passionate fundraisers for a brilliant cause.
Starting from Hare and Hounds in Mirfield, at 11:30am with the walkers setting off at half hour intervals, this 8-mile pub walk winds through some of Huddersfield’s much loved villages, calling in at a collection of local pubs, before finishing at The Foxglove, in Kirkburton.
It’s all in support of The Kirkwood, your local hospice, that is dedicated to supporting people in Kirklees affected by life limiting illnesses. By signing up for The Kirkwood Pub Hop, supporters will be helping to raise vital funds so that The Kirkwood can continue to care for patients and their families.
The Kirkwood Pub Hop will include, seven pub stops with opportunities to toast your efforts, try local brews and soak up the community spirit.
Participating pubs include:
- Hare and Hounds
- Spangled Bull
- Beaumont Arms
- Lepton Highlanders
- The Junction Inn
- The White Swan
- The Foxglove
The 8-mile route includes uneven ground and countryside tracks, it's suitable for most fitness levels but may not be accessible for everyone. Please contact The Kirkwood’s events team at events@thekirkwood.org.uk before signing up, if you have any questions about accessibility.
Tickets to take part in the event are just £20 (plus a small booking fee), with each participant asked to raise a minimum suggested sponsorship of £25. Every penny raised will help The Kirkwood continue caring for local people across Kirklees.
As part of the walk, you will receive:
- A bright, ale-inspired Pub Hop t-shirt
- A Kirkwood commemorative glass at the final pub
- A map of the route and downloadable walk assets
Whether you’re a seasoned walker, a real ale enthusiast, or just enjoy supporting a good cause with great company, this is a fantastic way to support The Kirkwood and visit some of the best pubs in the area.
Many of the pubs involved are long-time supporters of The Kirkwood, so it’s time to raise a glass to them, and to everyone who helps make The Kirkwood’s care possible. The Kirkwood Pub Hop is more than just a social event, it’s a celebration of local generosity, community spirit and hospice care.
The Kirkwood Events Manager Rachael Savage said: “We wanted to create something fun and sociable, but with a meaningful message. Every step you take helps us reach someone in need. And what better way to bring people together than through a walk filled with friendship, laughter, and a bit of beer-fuelled cheer.”
With just 300 places available, the event is expected to fill up quickly, so gather your mates, dust off your hiking boots, and register HERE!
Please walk and drink responsibly.
