Purple Dog and Basegreen to support The Kirkwood Memory Walk
At this year's The Kirkwood Memory Walk we are teaming up with both Basegreen Academy and Purple Dog to make sure everyone whether human or canine is safe whilst walking under the night Kirklees sky on the 22nd June.
The two companies will be providing medical support at the event and we are delighted we have them onboard as our support crew.
Purple Dog is a local first aid and health & safety training provider based at The Zone on St Andrews Road, Huddersfield. Basegreen Academy provides specialist ambulance and pre-hospital care to the general public. Both businesses are part of The Kirkwood Business Movement and we are so pleased that they are involved with our movement.
We spoke to Helen Moss, company director at Purple Dog who firstly explained about what the company does and then why they are excited to support the event.
She said: “We have three training rooms and our main office. Our courses range from all the first aid at work courses including Paediatric First Aid and Canine First Aid (for the canine professionals including dog walkers) and First Aid for Mental Health.
“We work with a number of blue chip companies, as well as independent sole traders, delivering courses that support all legal first aid training requirements for the HSE, OFSTED & EYFS.
“The Kirkwood holds significant memories for both Steve, Helen and Kelly as well as members of the team.
“So being involved enables us to support a cause that has helped us across the years in ways that have made a significant positive impact on our lives.
“Along with Basegreen Academy, we will be providing medical cover to support all walkers including all the dogs who are entering the event.
“At Purple Dog we believe that The Kirkwood is vital in Kirklees. The support they offer is much more than a special and safe place to spend your final days, it is a place to support not just the person, but the wider family, in living in a world that wasn’t expected. They provide support on many levels for when it’s needed.
“We really hope that everyone who is taking part enjoys the walk, creating lots of memories whilst supporting an amazing organisation and of course keeps safe whilst doing this.”
A spokesperson for Basegreen also commented about supporting The Kirkwood Memory Walk with their services by saying: “Founded in 2004, we are a very experienced team who specialise in providing ambulance and pre-hospital care provision including high level medical cover for events.
“If you are looking at working within the pre-hospital care profession, we offer the training in blue light, CERAD and, FREC level 3, 4 & 5 courses, as well as apprenticeships.
“We also offer a number of apprenticeships in management, as well as Health & Social care for your team's professional development.
“Having just relocated to Holmfirth, we have premises on Woodhead Road, Holmfirth.
“As The Kirkwood has supported some of the team in Basegreen on a very personal level, we are honoured to be part of this event as it is just one of the ways we can show our gratitude for the care and support we received.
“Working with Purple Dog, we are providing high level medical cover, and will be bringing along an assembly vehicle and ambulance that you will see at the stadium as you leave for the walk and at The Kirkwood site in Dalton before the route splits to either the 6 or 10 mile route.
The Kirkwood is so important. Without the ongoing high level support for individuals and their families, so many people could be left in a situation where they are potentially facing with fear and uncertainty.
“The Kirkwood shields and supports individuals and families in a way that makes such a positive and lifelong impact on them which can last for years.
“We hope that everyone has a really good and safe time on the walk, and please be assured, Basegreen and Purple Dog have got you covered with your first aid needs.”
On their support our Business Movement Development Manager Beverley Shaw commented: “To have fantastic support from two great local businesses is brilliant. We know they'll do a great job on the night to keep everyone safe. We are delighted to have them both involved in our movement and thank them for helping to support our biggest and best event of the year.”
