Newsome Panthers donate 100 selection boxes to The Kirkwood

Newsome Panthers Rugby League club have shown their festive community spirit by providing local charity The Kirkwood with a number of selection boxes.

Visiting just before Christmas several representatives from the club went to our Dalton site and delivered 100 selection boxes for both patients and nurses to enjoy over the next few weeks. The club has done lots of community work over the past few years and this is just another great example of how they are looking to support local charities.

Club chairman Steve Roberts said: "We are delighted we have been able to spread some joy this Christmas for the patients, their families and The Kirkwood's fantastic nurses. It's only a small gesture but if it helps bring a smile to their faces in what can be difficult circumstances then fantastic. The club is very community driven and without the fantastic people who support us we wouldn't be able to do what we are able to.

"One person I would like to thank is Gary Scott who looks after our pitches, he personally donated towards getting these selection boxes and so I wanted to give him a special mention too."

The Kirkwood's Director of Income Generation and Marketing Duncan Batty commented on the Panthers kind donations, he said: "Newsome Panthers are a fantastic local rugby league club who inspire many of our children to get into sport, they provide a fantastic community spirit much like we do here at The Kirkwood.

"We were very thankful to receive such a generous donation and it is something I know will bring a smile to our patients, their families and our brilliant nurses. Times are tough at the moment, but this community gestures just shows how different parts of our local area can support each other, so thanks again."
