Lucas Audsley celebrates his 20th birthday in style and raises funds for The Kirkwood

Lucas Audsley 20 has raised a brilliant £2,367 for The Kirkwood in memory of his mum Natalie who sadly passed away in 2019 on our In-Patient Unit.

Lucas and his family and friends last year raised a fantastic £10,500 when they took part in our sunrise walk. Since Natalie passed away they have raised over £20k for The Kirkwood. This year Lucas was determined to celebrate his birthday in style by raising as much funds as possible.

Lucas decided a good way to do this was to create an ale trail which went all over Kirklees. The trail went through Dewsbury and all the way to Brighouse and back again ending in his fantastic local pub the Shepherd’s Boy.

On the money raised and how the day went Lucas said: "We wanted to do something this year again to raise funds for The Kirkwood. They looked after my mum brilliantly a few years ago. Nothing was ever too much and they explained everything to us in a calm and caring manner. We as a family can't thank them enough, not just for how they cared for my mum but us as a family in general.

"I wanted to celebrate my birthday in style this year and organised an ale trail. It was really fun and we all had a good day. It was great we could end it here too in the Shepherd’s Boy as it's our local pub and the hub of our community.

"I am really proud of the money I raised and want to thank everyone who donated."

One couple that donated to Lucas's fundraiser was Steve and Sam Readhead who were celebrating their pearl wedding anniversary back in September.

Sam said: "We feel very strongly about how The Kirkwood cared for Natalie, Jason and the boys. We haven't been able to attend any of the previous fundraisers and so the £150 we donated we felt was our contribution to what is a fantastic cause."

Everyone at The Kirkwood is immensely proud of Lucas, his family and friends for their continued fundraising efforts.
