A Lottery Winner’s Story - Garry Moore

A few weeks ago, we caught up with Garry, one of our latest winners of The Big K Lottery.

Garry Moore, 69 has been an active player of The Big K Lottery since February 2021, Garry is a big supporter of The Kirkwood and a firm believer in our mission, to care for people across the whole of Kirklees with life limiting illnesses, and those who care for them, when they need it

Receiving the call from our Lottery team announcing his win, Garry was delighted to be informed he was the winner of £100.

A keen horse owner, Garry plans to spend his winnings on the continued care of his beloved horses, Jack, Desal and Mouse.

A horse owner most of his life, for the last decade Garry has cherished and cared for his trio of stags. Mouse is a former racehorse who competed in Dubai, but at 22, his racing days are firmly behind him.

Garry said: “I love them all to bits, they all have different personalities and that’s what makes them special. Mouse thinks he’s the boss, he’s very special and I fell in love with him the moment I saw him. Desal is 28 and he has his own character and Jack is 31, he was at a riding school before and when I first got him, he was shy and was very thin due to not eating a lot because the other horses stole his food. So, when I got him, I fed him on his own and he got really big and strong and came out of his shell, he’s one of the best horses I’ve ever owned, he’s very gentle and nothing much scares him when out on the road.

“I will probably spend the £100 on them because I love them so much and I’m very proud to own them. I love horses and these three have been fantastic, they will probably be my last.”

We’d like to wish Garry, Jack, Desal and Mouse all the best and hope they enjoy their winnings.
