Kirkwood needs You!

The dishwasher on our In-Patient Unit kitchen area needs replacing. We urgently require a new one to ensure that we can continue to provide a homely environment for our patients and their families.

The kitchen diner is often the heart of any home, where families come together to spend quality time.

We strive to create this at your local Hospice, for our patients and their families so they can continue enjoying precious time together.

Our 16 bed In-Patient Unit has a kitchen dining area for use by patients, their family and visitors. This shared facility was purposely positioned as part of our refurbishment during 2013 to create a ‘home away from home' environment.

Everyday things, which some of us take for granted, can be extremely important to those living with a life limiting illness.

Whether this is a visitor bringing in ingredients to enable a patient to join them making and eating their favourite meal, or perhaps enjoying food from a takeaway, dishes need to be washed and cutlery made clean, hence our kitchen is fully equipped.

This area is always very busy and used extensively however, we have identified a strong need for a replacement dishwasher.

In a healthcare setting like ours, it is vitally important to ensure exceptional hygiene standards and infection control, with a strong need to adhere to tough regulations and guidelines.

Consequently, we have identified a need for a commercial dishwasher specifically designed to meet the needs of healthcare settings. Due to the type of item required, this will cost £3,500.

Kirkwood Hospice receives only partial funding of the services we offer, the remainder is raised through fundraising.
