Kirkburton go ‘MADD’ for the Mannequin Challenge

As part of the Make a Difference campaign antics this week, one of our Hospice shops in Kirkburton have hosted their very own version of the viral ‘Mannequin Challenge’.

For one day only, on Monday 5th December, the Kirkburton Hospice shop invited local businesses, customers, volunteers and any other willing participants to take part in their community Mannequin Challenge.

For the entry fee of one Make a Difference Lottery Ticket, participants were challenged to stand completely still in the shop window for as long as possible. Sounds easy? Trust us, we’ve tried it and it’s much harder than it looks.

Taking part in the Mannequin Challenge were local Kirkburton businesses including Your Mum Knits, Tattoos by Tiny, Alura Nail Bar, Boultons Estate Agents, Kirkburton Hardware, the Kirkburton Post Office as well as volunteers and residents of Kirkburton and even our own Lottery Manager, Dawn Walker!

Maisie Weir, Manager of the Kirkburton and Denby Dale shops, said the Challenge was very well received by both those taking part and the general public.

“It was great fun and there was lots of enthusiasm from everyone involved.” said Maisie.

With it being a year in January since the opening of the new Hospice shop in Kirkburton, Maisie was keen to thank everyone who has made it so successful.

She said: “It’s just gone from strength to strength and has got bigger and better. Everyone’s been great again today and I’d just like to thank all the staff, volunteers and regular supporters who, as usual, have been absolutely brilliant.”

Aiming to sell as many tickets as possible for the Make a Difference Lottery Superdraw for the whole of this week, our Hospice shops aren’t stopping there. Alongside the Mannequin Challenge, shops are having their very own Christmas Jumper Day on Friday 9th December and taking part in a Christmas Window Competition. Shops will be dressing their windows in all their Christmas finery and competing for the legendary gold trophy – presented by Michael Crowther himself.
