International Nurses’ Day 2024

As we mark International Nurses' Day, we wanted to take some time to extend our heartfelt appreciation to the dedicated team of nurses, who continue to work tirelessly to provide the very best care and support for patients and families in our care. We’d also like to use this opportunity to pay tribute to our wider team of healthcare professionals, who work hand in hand with our nursing teams to make a positive difference for those who rely on our services. From social workers, care co-ordinators, physios and occupational therapists to our counsellors, call handlers and care navigators, every member of our team is a vital part of The Kirkwood Movement.

On behalf of the community in Kirklees, we would like to salute your compassion and commitment to delivering exceptional care every single day.

Beyond offering essential care to those living with a life limiting illness, throughout their illness and during their final moments, our nursing teams provide invaluable support to families, helping them through what is often the most challenging time of their lives.

On this special occasion, The Kirkwood's Director of Clinical Services, Lynne Hall-Bentley, expresses her gratitude:

"I would like to thank each and every one of The Kirkwood Nurses for their compassion and dedication in providing the highest quality care to our patients and their families.

“Our nurses make a huge difference in the lives of our patients and their families. Whether they're giving hands on care, being a rock of support, offering invaluable advice, leading wellbeing sessions, or making sure everything runs smoothly, their dedication is truly amazing!

“As we celebrate our amazing team on International Nurses' Day, it's important to remember that the exceptional care our nurses provide is made possible thanks to the incredible teamwork of everyone within The Kirkwood. From the dedication of fellow healthcare professionals to the hard work of our kitchen and cleaning staff, from the enthusiasm of our fundraisers to the commitment of our volunteers, everyone works together to support our nurses and make their impact even greater.

“It's not just our community that should be proud of them, it's the whole of The Kirkwood Movement.

"Drawing from my own experience as a nurse, I take immense pride in our profession and in the commitment of The Kirkwood Nurses to continually evolve our services, ensuring that all of our patients are cared for and supported to make the very most of the time they have left.

"I invite you all to join us today in celebrating International Nurses' Day and in paying tribute to our fantastic team of nurses across our charity.

“You are truly remarkable!"
