Illingworth and Gregory are looking to raise £50,000 for The Kirkwood
The Kirkwood are proud to announce that locally based construction company, Illingworth & Gregory (I&G), has pledged to help The Kirkwood Support Life during its special anniversary year.
Illingworth & Gregory, founded in 1972 is celebrating its 50th year in 2022. As part of their landmark year the team has pledged to support The Kirkwood and are determined to raise an eye-watering £50,000 in aid of a cause close to their hearts.
The company, which works on construction projects across the north of England, has just recorded its most successful year of trading following new contract wins across health, education, and commercial projects. 2021 also saw a recruitment drive following their move into a new £1m custom-designed office in West Yorkshire, meaning I&G step into its 50th year on a strong footing.
I&G is part of the Sewell Estates arm of the Sewell Group, which delivers investments, developments, construction, estates advisory and facilities management solutions for public and private sector customers. As well as celebrating 50 years in business, I&G will also be celebrating five years since becoming part of the Sewell Group.
To mark both milestones, I&G staff were asked to vote for a cause close to their hearts which the company would support throughout the year. They chose The Kirkwood.
I&G Managing Director, Sean Henderson, said: “We wanted to make an ambitious pledge for our 50th year in business that would really challenge our teams, give them something to aspire to, and give back to the communities that we serve.
“This is a very exciting year for us as a business, not only are we reaching our half century, but we’ll also be marking five years of being part of the wider Sewell Group.”
The I&G team has created an exciting calendar of events and sponsored activities to reach their £50,000 fundraising target. Members of the team have been signing up to take part in a range of monthly challenges, including a gravity defying abseil – which the adrenaline junkies in the team conquered back in April – and a nerve shredding 15,000ft Skydive set to take place this weekend.
As well as supporting The Kirkwood financially, I&G has given employees 50 hours of volunteering time to use during their 50th anniversary year. Members of the team are being encouraged to use their hours to support The Kirkwood in lots of different ways. And they have already started to roll up their sleeves, recently helping to deliver over 30 Snowdog sculptures to schools across Kirklees as part of our Snowdogs Support Life, Kirklees art trail.
The Kirkwood’s Fundraising Manager, Beverley Shaw, said: "We are delighted to be working with Illingworth and Gregory in their 50th Anniversary year. I&G is a fantastic firm with firmly established roots here in Kirklees. It is a huge year for them, and we are so pleased that the team chose to help The Kirkwood and have pledged to raise such an incredible amount.
"Without the generosity of local businesses like I&G we couldn't possibly continue to support people affected by life limiting illnesses across Kirklees. I&G are a proud company who love their local community and share our belief that everyone affected by a life limiting illness deserve the very best care, wherever and whenever they need it.
"Thank you from everyone at The Kirkwood for all they have already done and are planning to do to help us Support Life."
