Hopton Charity Clay Pigeon Shoot raises funds for The Kirkwood

This years ‘Hopton Charity Clay Pigeon Shoot’ takes place on Sunday 7th May. As charity of the year, the proceeds raised will be donated to The Kirkwood, and will enable us to continue to care for people in Hopton and the rest of Kirklees.

Ben Wightman of the Hopton Clay Pigeon Shoot says: "We decided that we wanted to support a local charity making a real difference in our community. Last year, Ben Brisby and Dave Thompson won the competition, and they chose The Kirkwood as our charity of the year.

"We’re delighted to support The Kirkwood, we know how vital the support they provide to local people is. We’re glad to be doing our bit and raising funds for them. On a personal note, my gran supported The Kirkwood decades ago and we as a family have always looked to help the hospice wherever and whenever we can.

“Since 2020 we have raised over £3,000 for charities and organisations. We hope our upcoming shoot can push that total up a little higher.

"On the 7th May we are hosting our annual charity shoot day, anyone can come along and have a go, we'll take you through step by step how it all works and what you need to do. On the day, alongside the shoot we'll have other things going on, as well as a raffle, it should be a great day out.
