Hartshead Manor Care Home reaches End of Life Champion status

The Kirkwood supports care homes across Kirklees by helping staff understand how best to care for someone with a life limiting illness. The care homes that we support are appreciative of receiving our expert help.

One of the homes that we do support is Hartshead Manor Care home, Christine the care home manager believes the support we provide them as a charity is vital.

On working with The Kirkwood and becoming an End-of-Life Champion, Christine said: “We are a 53 bedded care home in a country setting, we provide services to the local community and beyond in our three communities. Our specialised areas are dementia and end of life care. Having dual registration, we are able to take both residential and nursing residents  

“Having recognition for the care we provide is great for our staff and those using our service. Having a local expert service that supports the home and community in so many ways is invaluable to everyone. Providing not only for care, but support, training and advice for others involved in the person’s journey.”

On Hartshead Manor care home achieving End of Life Champion status, our lead on our care home service Debs Hanson said: “It is fantastic to see so many care homes becoming an End-of-Life Champion. Christine and her team at Hartshead have worked hard in the last year to improve their understanding of end-of-life care and we have enjoyed working with them as a home and we will continue to work with them in the future.”
