Getting to know Mark Hodgson from We Are Intrinsic
In our latest Business Movement feature where we get to know the people behind our members businesses. This time we speak to Mark Hodgson the MD of We Are Intrinsic.

We spoke with Mark to find out more about him.
Q: Tell us about yourself and your business. How long has We Are Intrinsic been established, and what’s the story behind the name?
Mark Hodgson: "Where to start—I've been working in Digital Marketing in some form or another for almost 16 years. During COVID, an opportunity arose to start my own agency, which was originally called SERP Digital. Fast forward two years, and we went through a rebrand to We Are Intrinsic. The background behind that name was that we realised for many clients, we were an intrinsic part of their business. It allows us to think like an internal team to ensure we are always acting in the clients’ best interests at all times."
Q: What makes your business stand out from the competition?
Mark Hodgson: "One thing many clients have said is that we help simplify the complex at speed, allowing clients to make accurate investment decisions with their budgets. We've also developed our own IP, mainly centred around data, which supports clients with the same budget and growth goals. This allows us to deliver clear client benefits, whether it's through expertise, value, or agility."
Q: What does a good working day look like for you?
Mark Hodgson: "A good working day for me is when I’m out of the office with clients or prospective clients, discussing their challenges or growth plans. I enjoy coming up with marketing solutions and strategies to help them achieve those goals. It’s that collaborative process that drives results."
Q: What motivates you to work hard?
Mark Hodgson: "My family, without a doubt. I want to give my daughter the best possible start in life, so she motivates me every day to work harder and smarter."
Q: You are a valued member of The Kirkwood Business Movement. What do you enjoy about being a member?
Mark Hodgson: "I love being involved with any organisation that is central to a community. There’s a real sense of working together to meet our business aims while also supporting a vital service. That collective effort is very rewarding."
Q: How much did you know about The Kirkwood before working with them, and what surprised you the most?
Mark Hodgson: "Thanks to Bev The Kirkwood's Business Movement Development Manager giving us great insight into The Kirkwood, I was really surprised to learn that they support such a significant number of people in the community. It’s not widely covered by Macmillan, which made me realise how essential their work is."
Q: What is your most used emoji?
Mark Hodgson: "The crying laughing emoji, It’s a good reflection of how I try to keep things light!"
Q: Facebook, LinkedIn, TikTok, Instagram—which is your go-to platform and why?
Mark Hodgson: "Instagram for me. It’s more images, less text, which I prefer. It’s also a platform I adopted early on, so it’s as much a habit now as it is a preference."
Q: What are your interests outside of work?
Mark Hodgson: "I love DJing, something I’ve done for over 20 years. I’m also a keen Leeds Rhinos and Leeds United fan, so between that and spending time with my family, I keep pretty busy."
Q: Life is precious—can you share one thing left on your bucket list?
Mark Hodgson: "I’ve always wanted to visit Australia to watch the NRL and explore the country. I’ve been fascinated with Oz since I was a child, so it’s definitely on my bucket list."
Q: Describe your ideal weekend.
Mark Hodgson: "An ideal weekend for me would be jetting off to a sunny country for a long weekend of heat, wine, and great company."
