Generous donation by J.P. Wild is a fantastic festive boost for The Kirkwood

A local building firm with a big heart decided against sending Christmas gifts this year, instead making a generous donation to The Kirkwood to support us over the festive season.

Earlier this month, Leeds based company J.P. Wild popped down to The Kirkwood gardens in Dalton to hand over a generous donation of £2,500, to help the charity provide care over the festive period.

As well as tackling projects in Leeds and across West Yorkshire, the building firm has taken on a number of jobs in Kirklees. They are currently working on sites in Almondbury and Newsome.

Stephen James, Business Development Manager at J.P. Wild, explained why they chose to support The Kirkwood in lieu of sending gifts at this special time of year.

He said: “We regularly give to charities such as St Gemma’s as they’re based over in Leeds, but it was Stewart who came to us with the idea of supporting The Kirkwood too.”

“Instead of giving putting money towards buying gifts for our clients, we’d rather donate money to charity. Our clients always appreciate it too.”

This year, J.P. Wild chose to split their generous donation between The Kirkwood and St Gemma’s Hospice in Leeds.

It was J.P. Wild’s Stewart Ross who nominated The Kirkwood to receive the donation.

As a supporter, Stewart has been involved in a number of fundraisers for the charity, including helping out at one of The Kirkwood events in our gardens last Summer.

Stewart said: “I’ve been involved previously and was involved in the Get Together in the Summer. I just thought ‘it’s a good cause’ and asked the company if they would consider donating to The Kirkwood this year.”

Everyone connected with The Kirkwood would like to say a huge thank you to J.P. Wild for the kindness and generosity and wish them a very merry Christmas."
