FMG Supporting The Kirkwood and the Heart of Huddersfield

Since its foundation in 1986, FMG has been a cornerstone of the Huddersfield business community, growing into one of the town’s largest private employers. Known nationally for its Incident Management and Roadside Services, FMG has remained committed not only to reducing the impact of incidents on roads across the UK, but also to supporting the people and communities close to home. One such example is their enduring relationship with local charity, The Kirkwood.

For years, FMG has proudly supported The Kirkwood, but over the last 12 months, their involvement has reached inspiring new heights.

“Although we’ve had a relationship with FMG for a number of years as one of their chosen local charities, the support they’ve given us recently is a great example of a charity business partnership done right,” said Beverley Shaw, The Kirkwood’s Business Movement Development Manager.

In the past year, FMG donated an incredible £8,000 to The Kirkwood, later boosting the total to £11,500 by sponsoring the charity’s 2024/25 tree recycling campaign. But the partnership has gone beyond financial contributions. Through their membership of The Kirkwood Business Movement, FMG has encouraged regular pre-loved donations from staff, offered volunteering time, and even hosted The Kirkwood’s community nursing teams for away days, complete with a complimentary lunch.

As The Kirkwood looks ahead to 2025, FMG’s dedication shows no sign of slowing. Mental health first aiders from the company are set to join the charity’s “Support Life Champion” programme, further strengthening the bond between the two organisations. FMG colleagues will also be out in force for the annual Starlight Walk in July, cheering on participants at refreshment stations and offering encouragement every step of the way.

Robin Lang, Claims Director at FMG, summed up the sentiment shared by many of his colleagues: “As a Huddersfield-based business, we’re proud to support the fantastic work of The Kirkwood. With over 800 colleagues, most living within a HD postcode, we seize every opportunity to give something back to our local community and the charity that has touched the lives of some of our team.

“Volunteering with The Kirkwood has been a fantastic experience for so many of our colleagues, creating memories, camaraderie and a great sense of achievement. We’re proud to play our part in helping raise the vital funds needed for The Kirkwood’s amazing nurses, doctors, and healthcare professionals.”
