FMG raise £5,000 for The Kirkwood in 2023

The Kirkwood has a fantastic relationship with many local businesses across Kirklees. These businesses are not only part of our Business Movement but a lot of them do extra fundraising for us as a charity and help us to support life.

One of those businesses we have a special relationship with is FMG. FMG is one of the UK’s only Incident Management and Roadside Services Specialists committed to reducing the frequency and impact of incidents. They deliver business-critical, 24-hour vehicle and driver support to Blue Chip customers, Leasing Providers, Motor Insurers, Brokers, MGAs, National Highways and several Police Forces. They have supported The Kirkwood for several years now.

Over the last 12 months the company has raised over £5,000 for The Kirkwood by holding various events and having dress down days within the company. The FMG staff have really got behind The Kirkwood movement. These funds have gone on to help us care for patients with life limiting illnesses both at our site in Dalton and in the Kirklees community.

Jenna Murten FMG's Lost Recovery Manager and one of the leading members of the company's fundraising team said of their fundraising efforts for The Kirkwood: “Within FMG we've got our fundraising team that myself and other employees do alongside our main roles and throughout that we have different events and initiatives to raise money for charity. Our team is FMGiving so the G in this context stands for Giving.

“Our main partners that we support are The Kirkwood and one other local charity.

“The fundraising from this last calendar year that went to The Kirkwood consisted of us holding regular dress down days for employees and we held a pub quiz event. On top of that, there has been other funds that have gone direct to The Kirkwood, like we're part of the business movement and we did do an initiative back in June where we did a random Act of Kindness Day and Beverley Shaw The Kirkwood's Business Movement Development Manager came on site and we brought everybody into the office to buy a raffle ticket.

“We had a table at The Kirkwood Gala dinner and we supported The Kirkwood Cuppa too by hosting our own event in October.

“We also helped with the Christmas tree collections. We had for the first time this year real Christmas trees across our office. We paid a donation for The Kirkwood to take them away, but we also helped the event with volunteers. We provided vans and volunteers for a day to cover their Christmas tree collections.”

On how proud she and the rest of the team were for raising £5,000 for The Kirkwood she added: “I think for the size of our business we do a fantastic amount for The Kirkwood. However, every time I go to one of their events I always come away thinking we need to be doing more.

“I guess that there is only so much that we can do alongside our jobs and that actually at times like this where things are hard for everybody, for us to raise that amount of money is great and something we are very proud of.”

Beverley Shaw, Business Movement Development Manager for The Kirkwood added: “We'd like to thank Jenna and everyone at FMG for their continued support as it makes a huge difference to us as a charity.

“They are a fantastic local business and one we are glad to be connected with.”
