Field Head Golf Day once again raises fantastic funds for The Kirkwood

The Field Head pub in Quarmby hosted their annual Golf Day this September raising an incredible £4,415 and on behalf of the whole The Kirkwood movement we’d like to say thank you.

Ivan Smith, Jerry Wood and their team of volunteers, and sponsors have been fundraising for The Kirkwood since 2017. Overall raising a grand total of £13,115, this figure has been climbing year upon year.

This year's event took place on the 2nd September at Outlane Golf Club, perched on the side of the Pennines, offering spectacular views and 18 unique holes, a magnificent day was had by all.

We caught up with Ivan earlier this week to hear his thoughts on the days events, he commented: "It was a terrific day and shows that a lot of people care deeply about The Kirkwood. Obviously, we see a lot of customers come into the Field Head pub, who as soon as you mention The Kirkwood instantly say they have a connection to it of some sort. I think The Kirkwood is a vital charity which supports so many people.

"Since we started doing the charity golf days they have just got bigger and better each year. More and more local businesses have got on board with it and sponsored various things, which is great, and I'd like to say a big thanks to them. Without their continued support we couldn't raise what we do.

"I'd also like to thank Jerry, Steve, Tony, Marcus and T’hut Ladies Liz and Linda for making the event happen.

"The event had lots going on this year with a pie and pea meal before they set off. We had holes sponsored and competitions throughout the day like trying to get the ball into Freddie the Frogs mouth. The day was then finished off with a curry and presentation back at the pub."

The Kirkwood community fundraiser Joanna Doherty said of the efforts by Ivan and Jerry: "On behalf of everyone involved with The Kirkwood we'd like to thank everyone involved with the golf day this year. Everyone worked brilliantly as a team to make a truly marvelous day happen. The funds raised from this event will go a long way to help us care for people across Kirklees.

"Ivan, Jerry and the team have done this since 2017 and we are so thankful for their continued support. They are already planning next year's event and we can't wait to share the details of what might be planned soon."
