Elland Golf Club Raises Over £2,900 for The Kirkwood

Members of Elland Golf Club have proudly raised more than £2,900 for The Kirkwood through a series of charity events held throughout 2024 and 2025. 

The fundraising efforts saw the club come together for a range of activities, from music nights to fashion shows, all in support of our much-loved local hospice.

One of the highlights of the year was the Captain’s Music Night on 22nd April, which featured a live performance by Club Captain Stephen Taylor, better known to many as KTSteve. The evening proved a great success, raising £309 for the charity.

On 1st May, Lady Captain Elena Abbott hosted a Ladies’ Fashion Show, which drew plenty of support and raised a further £660. Later in the year, on 3rd October, Mr Rabbit Captain Alan Oldfield organised a charity event with live entertainment, adding another £200 to the total.

Alongside these events, collection boxes, donations and raffles throughout the year helped boost the overall figure by £264.71, taking the total raised to £2,900.

Speaking about the fundraising, Club Captain Stephen Taylor said: “On behalf of Elland Golf Club, we are all extremely proud to raise money for such a worthy cause. The Kirkwood is a charity that holds a special place in the hearts of many members.

“My brother had visits prior to sadly passing, and my wife’s step-sister was cared for there too. This is a vital organisation for the community of Kirklees. I believe they are struggling, but if you rely solely on charities supporting you, this will be a constant battle. I would pay extra council tax for more funding from Kirklees Council.”
