Big boost for The Kirkwood funds
Big hearted Freemasons have given The Kirkwood a £3,000 boost.
The funds were donated from The Mark Benevolent Fund, founded in 1868, which is the official charity of The Grand lodge of Mark Master Masons.
It is part of a £1.3 million donation from the Freemasons to more than 250 hospices in the England, Wales, The Channel Islands and The Isle of Man to recognise The Duke of Edinburgh, his service to the crown and the life of the nation.

The Kirkwood provide care and support for anyone affected by a life limiting illness in every corner of Kirklees. Right from diagnosis through to end of life, they improve the quality of life of those in their care against all the odds.
The funds donated will make a huge difference for local people in every community across Kirklees.
Paul Leach, representing The Mark Benevolent Fund, said: “We have seen the wonderful work The Kirkwood do and, can see the support and comfort they bring to both patients and their families. It is such a worthwhile cause.”
Beverley Shaw, Fundraising Manager with The Kirkwood, added: “We truly appreciate the Freemasons’ generosity with this donation. Every penny donated helps families get the support they need, whenever and wherever they need it.

“Not only is it amazing to be included in this hospice-wide donation, but it’s also great to build a relationship with the Freemasons’ in the Yorkshire region as it really helps to raise awareness of the care our nurses provide.
“I’d like to thank the Mark Master Masons on behalf of The Kirkwood.”
The Kirkwood were delighted to welcome Paul Leach, Edward Wilkinson, Philip Howell, Alex Steele and Andy Brown down to The Kirkwood Gardens for a very special cheque presentation on Tuesday 24th August.
