Snowgate supports The Kirkwood
Snowgate Estate Agents have partnered with their marketing agency, Hollywood, to highlight and support the incredible work of The Kirkwood, with the help of Beverley Shaw, The Kirkwood’s Business Movement Development Manager. Together, they are showcasing how business partnerships can make a meaningful difference to the local community.
Oliver from Snowgate explained why the company chose to get involved: "We’ve come along to get some content with our marketing team. As you know, we joined the Business Movement in March 2025, which is nearly 10 months ago now, and it’s going really well. We wanted to give back to the local community, and The Kirkwood was an obvious choice for us.
“A lot of our clients have shared stories about how The Kirkwood has supported them and their families at some of the most difficult times. We’ve sold a lot of properties for people who have been supported by The Kirkwood.
“On top of that, I’ve got family connections, my grandfather Stephen and my brother Archie both volunteer every Monday at The Kirkwood. I think my granddad has been doing it for nearly 20 years. I’ve seen firsthand at open days and when the gardens are open just what an impact it makes. So we’re delighted to be involved and really want to help raise some vital funds at what is a difficult time."
As part of their pledge, Snowgate is offering a unique way for the community to contribute: "Basically what we’re saying is for anyone that references The Kirkwood at the point of instruction, we’ll donate 10% of our sales fee upon completion. And for anybody that instructs us to manage a rental property, we’ll donate 25% of our first month’s setup fee. You hear what a difference that can make, and it’s a huge difference. We’re really excited and we want to try and raise as much money as possible to help The Kirkwood."
Oliver also praised The Kirkwood’s Business Movement: "We’ve now got over 100 members in the Business Movement, which is absolutely amazing. There’s such a breadth of businesses in Kirklees who have come together. By coincidence I met Bev at a different networking event, sat next to her, and we haven’t looked back. It’s always been in the back of my mind to support The Kirkwood, but Bev is very good at what she does. Having over 100 members involved is incredible. It just feels very different to a typical networking event. Everyone’s involved for their own reasons, but ultimately it’s to grow their own businesses while having a real focus on the local community and giving back.
“It’s been great to meet new contacts. I’ve had meetings with solicitors who share the same focus and are very much like minded. Hats off to Bev, she’s grown to be a really essential part of the community, with people working together to make a difference."
Beverley Shaw, The Kirkwood’s Business Movement Development Manager, expressed her delight at Snowgate’s involvement and the value of the day’s filming with Hollywood Agency: "I think it’s been brilliant. Snowgate bringing down their media and creative company, Hollywood, has enabled us to really showcase The Kirkwood, the wonderful things that we do and the depth of our services. Many people may not have realised that they can actually access our support if they’re living with a diagnosis of a life-limiting illness, or even caring for someone who has one.
“It’s been absolutely brilliant seeing so many of our colleagues, volunteers, and staff willingly put themselves forward for the filming we’ve done. They’ve really embraced the ethos of what The Kirkwood is all about, and I’m so pleased that they’ve volunteered in the way they have.

“From a business perspective, working with one of our Business Movement members, Snowgate, demonstrates that the work we do with each partner is very personal, very individual, and very collaborative. We’re here to promote The Kirkwood, but we’re also here to showcase what working with us could look like for a business."**
Beverley added that the impact of Snowgate’s pledges is already being felt: "Snowgate is a very well-recognised estate agency in Huddersfield, I believe they’re number one in Mirfield. They’re a brilliant agency, and more importantly, when someone references The Kirkwood, an element of their sales commission is passed on to us to help with patient care. And it’s quite a big percentage.
“It’s 10% for a sale where The Kirkwood is referenced as part of the terms and conditions, but it’s 25% for a managed let. On average, that’s likely to be around £350. That’s a tangible donation, which will help us make a real difference."
The day’s filming was managed by Hollywood Agency, a Mirfield based branding and marketing company commissioned by Snowgate. Founder Erica Walmsley and content manager Sophie Parkinson were both inspired by their first in-depth visit to The Kirkwood.
Erica said: "I’ve been to the charity's shops before, but I’ve never actually been to the Dalton site and seen it in all its glory. I’ve had wider family who have been under the care of The Kirkwood, but I’ve never been into the grounds like this and seen what it really is about here. Today has been an absolute eye opener. Maybe naively, you sort of think of these places as where people are going through really hard things, and it can be a tough time for families. I expected that you might feel that in the atmosphere, but I couldn’t have been more wrong.
“The atmosphere is lively but gentle, and appropriate for the situation people are in. I found it such a beautiful, relaxing place to be, with such friendly faces. I got a smile off every single member of staff I passed. What a gorgeous place to be.”**
Sophie added: “It’s my first experience with The Kirkwood. I’ve never been into any of the premises before, and as Erica said, it’s really an eye opener. There’s so much more going on than you’d expect. The gardeners, the volunteers, it’s just an amazing place. From the work they do with the gardens and vegetables, which are then used in the kitchen, it’s no wonder that so many people come here and trust it. From the patients to their families to the volunteers, it’s an all-round great place."
Erica explained why Hollywood Agency was delighted to be part of the day: "We’re here with Snowgate, who are our marketing partner. They’ve made a very generous and absolutely amazing offer, donating 10% of their fees if you mention The Kirkwood upon instruction, which is just fantastic. We’re here to do some filming to help get that off the ground. The Kirkwood means so much to so many people, and our job is to show everyone why. For people like us who haven’t visited before, we hope to open more eyes, just as our eyes have been opened today."
Oliver summed up the spirit of the collaboration: "I hope this is the beginning of a long-standing partnership with The Kirkwood. Let’s see what we can do together."
