National Garden Scheme Open Day

Join us on Saturday 31st July as we open The Kirkwood Gardens to the public for one day only!

The Kirkwod Gardens are a tranquil place loved by patients and their families along with our teams, supporters and volunteers.

We are delighetd to welcome our local community on Saturday 31st July as we open The Kirkwood Gardens as part of the National Garden Scheme.

The gardens will be open to view from 10am until 3pm.

Refreshments will be available on the day along with a variety of plants for sale.

The Gardens

Last year, we were delighted to win GOLD award at the Yorkshire in Bloom ceremony for the second year running. In 2019, The beautiful gardens also won joint first in the Charitable Establishments category along with Barnsley Hospice.

The gardens provide for patients and families to spend time in, making memories and relaxing with loved ones.

The In-Patient Unit includes a private terrace for each room, that overlooks the gardens and many find comfort in sitting out and taking in the scenery.

Our Volunteer Gardeners have been working hard over the last few months to bring the gardens back to life following lockdown, and developing new areas such as The Wildflower Lawn, Allotment and Chef's Garden.

 

National Garden Scheme

The National Garden Scheme gives visitors unique access to private gardens across the country, helping to raise thousands each year for local charities like The Kirkwood. We are delighted to be featured in the National Garden Scheme book for the first time.
 

 

Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update: guidance on booking and attending The Kirkwood Fundraising Events

This guidance applies to everyone involved in one of our events, including; participants, volunteers and suppliers.

We take the wellbeing of those attending and supporting our events seriously. We are closely monitoring guidance from the Government, which is now being updated daily. Any decisions on these events will be taken by the Fundraising team with the best interests of all parties in mind. Should it be necessary to cancel or reschedule any Kirkwood event, we will communicate the information with lead bookers, volunteers and suppliers where appropriate. We will also communicate any cancellations or postponement via our website and social media platforms. If one of our events doesn't go ahead, a full refund or transfer of registration fee will be offered if applicable.
