Jeannette Marsh raises funds for The Kirkwood in loving memory of husband Tony

Many people have supported The Kirkwood over many years and one such delightful woman is Jeannette Marsh who has donated/raised thousands of pounds for us over the years.

Jeannette's husband Anthony was a former Finance Manager for the supermarket Morrisons based at their Head Office in Bradford. He received specialist palliative care from our teams when he was diagnosed with a brain tumour in 2011.

Tony was cared for by our nurses on our In-Patient Unit in Dalton in 2014 for two and a half weeks, he sadly died at home just four days later.

Jeannette has regularly organised ‘The Annual Anthony Marsh Christmas Tribute Trail’ in his memory.

Tony was a superb athlete and enjoyed running, he was a big part of the running club Holmfirth Harriers.

The 2021 trail event in memory of Tony raised a fantastic £660 for The Kirkwood last year.

On the event Jeannette said: "I would just like to say that on behalf of my children Katie and Ryan and myself that once again we were overwhelmed with the support and generosity of everyone who came to the event and our heartfelt thanks goes to everyone who donated to The Kirkwood.

"Also thank you for the support provided by my family and friends to help the event go ahead. I truly believe Tony would be so proud of our achievements each and every year.

"We choose to remember Tony in this way to honour his passion for running and his love of outdoors."

Bev Shaw The Kirkwood's fundraising manager added: "Jeannette has raised an incredible amount of money over so many years. We are always delighted to help her with her event. The funds she has raised has helped us to support thousands of lives and people living with long term illnesses."
